Southern Pine Beetle Cost Share Program Open for Applications
The cost share program for Southern Pine Beetle (SPBP) is now accepting applications. The purpose of the SPBP is to help landowners implement various silvicultural practices that will prevent (or minimize) impacts of southern pine beetle infestations, restore healthy, more beetle-resistant forests and suppress current beetle infestations. The sign up period will be open through June 17th. Click here to view the SPB application and apply. - Limit of $10,000 per landowner for tree planting practices and $5,000 per landowner for prevention practices.
- Reforestation cost share will reimburse landowners at $100 an acre and eligible species include loblolly pine, slash pine, shortleaf pine, eastern white pine, longleaf pine, and commercial hardwoods.
- Prevention practices offered– non-commercial thinning of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands ($70/acre), release of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands($40/acre), prescribed burning of loblolly/shortleaf pine stands or longleaf stands 10 years old or less ($5/acre).
